Is there an adult worker hierarchy? Do strippers see themselves as superior to nude models? Models superior to porn stars? Porn stars superior to camgirls? Everyone superior to prostitutes? Or…not so much?
Of course. It’s a bunch of people doing something that they’ve been told their entire lives is wrong. In orde to alleviate the feeling of guilt, many sex workers turn and point fingers at other types of sex workers, or even the same type but with a different set of personal limitations. I’ve never worked at a club where there wasn’t at least one girl who was labeled “dirty” for giving more intimate private dances than others. Cam girls say they could never work at a table top club and be touched by strangers, dancers say they’d never masturbate on the internet, porn girls think they’re better than everyone, and escorts get a bad wrap across the board. I think we are all just people fighting battles and doing what we have to do or what we want to do and just getting by. I support all men, women, and transgendered people in the adult industry and I hope especially that those who are victims of violence and forced sex work get the support that they need from their community (us) to feel empowered and make their own choice.
